Steven Sorci, DO, the region’s only specialist in advanced heart failure, has joined WVU Heart and Vascular Institute at Wheeling Hospital. Dr. Sorci is on the team led by George Sokos, D.O., director of the Advanced Heart Failure Program at the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute in Morgantown. Dr. Sokos also leads the program’s heart transplant team. Dr. Sorci treats advanced heart failure cases and assesses patients for possible transplants at all of WVU Medicine’s hospitals in the region, including Wheeling, Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Wetzel County Hospital, Harrison Community Hospital, and Barnesville Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Northside Hospital and Tampa Bay Heart Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he served as chief cardiovascular medicine fellow. Dr. Sorci also completed a fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
